Rehabilitation Services

Onslow Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Department provides comprehensive rehab services to the residents of the Onslow County community and surrounding areas. Services consist of Physical or Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology and Cardiac Rehabilitation available to both in-patients and out-patients demonstrating need for assistance in the areas of habilitation and rehabilitation.

In-patient services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team of experienced physical and occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists who are able to provide evaluations and treatment appropriate for admitting diagnoses. Therapy in this setting consists of therapeutic exercise, functional activity as indicated, wound management, patient and family education, on-going assessment and supportive care as needed. Rehab services are provided to patients in all areas of the hospital as prescribed by their physicians, to include infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Therapists work in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, families, discharge planners and dietary staff to make recommendations, to ensure safety, and to facilitate our patients' return to their former living environment as soon as possible.

Out-patient services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team of physical and occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists. The Onslow Memorial Hospital Rehab Center offers multiple adult and pediatric programs now located conveniently in one building. Current programs include:

Physical Therapy: Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, Pediatric Therapy, Stroke Rehab, Amputee Management, Womans Health, Chronic Pain, Work Related Injuries, and Neuro Rehab

Occupational Therapy: Hand Therapy, Custom Splint Fabrication, Stroke Rehab, Ergonomic Assessments, Lymphedema Management, Treatment for Work-Related Injuries, Industrial Rehab/ Ergonomic Assessments, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Pediatrics, and Neuro Rehab

Speech Therapy: Dyphagia Management, Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies, Cognitive-Linguistic and Speech Therapy, Voice and Stuttering Therapy, Videostroboscopy, Bells Palsy, Pediatric Therapy.
